Biden Marks International Women’s Day With Pledge To Abortion

Joe Biden issued an official statement on Tuesday to mark the celebration of International Women’s Day and took the opportunity to praise his administration’s work on protecting access to elective abortions at any point of pregnancy. As usual, radical leftists and progressives cannot conceive of celebrating women without demanding ever-increasing abortions of unborn children.

Biden expressed pride in his “whole-of-government effort to protect reproductive rights.”

Biden is America’s second Catholic president, following President John F. Kennedy and he regularly promotes the importance he claims his faith has in his life. However, the Catechism of the Catholic Church expressly acknowledges the “inherent dignity and worth” of unborn human life. The Church defines abortion as a “crime against human life” and teaches that human life must be protected “from the moment of conception.”

Biden’s Catholic faith recognizes a fundamental human right, the right to life, even though the president hypocritically does not. After some controversy last year about whether the president should still be allowed to take communion given his departure from such an essential part of the Christian faith, he finally met with Pope Francis at the Vatican last year. The Pope reportedly told Biden that he is a “good Catholic” and should continue to take communion.

The White House issued a separate statement on Tuesday celebrating the first anniversary of the creation of Biden’s White House Gender Policy Council. The statement mirrored Biden’s Women’s Day statement, adding that his administration pledges to fight against what it calls the “extreme and unconstitutional” Texas Heartbeat Act. That pro-life law prohibits abortions in Texas after a fetal heartbeat is medically detected, usually around the sixth week of pregnancy.

Biden also heaped praise on his National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality, which he said constitutes an “ambitious agenda” to protect “safe and legal” abortions.

While the White House and Democrats will never acknowledge it, abortion is a rather tragic topic for discussion on International Women’s Day. As the March for Life has noted, approximately 140 million women have been killed in the womb because of selective elective abortions.
