Biden Pushes Plan To Strip Nutrition Funding For Schools Opposed To Trans Agenda

Former first lady Michelle Obama made it her mission to encourage school lunchrooms to serve healthier meals, but the Biden administration appears poised to use such nutrition programs to push an even more sinister political agenda.

A group of Republican officials, including Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, recently filed a joint lawsuit claiming that the U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to withhold federal funding for school lunch programs if administrators fail to uphold the White House’s progressive stance on gender-related issues.

In a recent statement on the matter, Miyares detailed exactly what the lawsuit asserts is happening in public schools across the U.S.

“The USDA … is saying for school districts that provide reduced lunches for needy children, nutrition assistance for needy children: ‘If you want this money, you have to allow biological males to play women’s sports and you have to allow biological males to use women’s bathrooms,” he said.

As part of its latest push, the agency released posters that advise schools are “prohibited from discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), age, disability and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.”

While proponents of the agenda applaud its focus on nondiscrimination, critics on the right argue that any school with these USDA posters on the wall have tacitly agreed to abide by a far-left set of principles.

For his part, the Virginia attorney general said that he was “proud” to be part of a group standing up against the perceived radicalization of the nation’s school lunch assistance program. He denounced the Biden administration’s decision to use such a vital initiative “as a vehicle for you to say you have to allow biological males … in our women’s sports teams and in our girls’ bathrooms.”

This new regulation is just the latest effort by the White House to advance what many critics call a “woke” agenda regarding LGBTQ youth.

Earlier this year, President Joe Biden signed an executive order that targeted a number of states that oppose the left’s gender identity ideology.

As Jay Greene of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Education Policy opined in June: “The claim that puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones prevent suicides is being used by the Biden administration and state policymakers to ease access to those drugs. As it turns out, the science behind that claim is extremely weak and when the evidence is examined properly, it shows that making cross-sex treatments more widely available risks raising youth suicide rates rather than reducing them.”
