Biden To Address Americans On Second Anniversary Of Jan. 6 Protests

Joe Biden is scheduled to acknowledge the second anniversary of protests at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with a ceremony to be held at the White House’s East Room on Friday, The Hill reports.

Biden lambasted former President Trump in a 2022 speech, alleging his rhetoric caused the event, which resulted in the killing of 36-year-old protester Ashli Babbitt by a Capitol police officer.

“The former president of the United States of America has created and spread a web of lies about the 2020 election,” Biden said. “He has done so because he values power over principle because he sees his own interest as more important than his country’s interest, America’s interest, and because his bruised ego means more to him than our democracy and our Constitution. He can’t accept he lost.”

“The former president’s supporters are trying to rewrite history. They want you to see Election Day as the insurrection,” he charged. “Can you think of a more twisted way to look at this country, to look at America?”

Trump characterized Biden’s comments as “political theater” and as an attempt to divert from his own failures.

“Biden, who is destroying our Nation with insane policies of open Borders, corrupt Elections, disastrous energy policies, unconstitutional mandates, and devastating school closures, used my name today to try to further divide America,” Trump said at the time.

Efforts by D.C. politicians to bring legal action against Trump as a consequence of his alleged role in the protests have been falling flat as of late. A recent case put forth by attorney Harmeet Dhillon ended with a win after it forced the House January 6th Committee to terminate its subpoena against former President Donald Trump.

The conservative lawyer joined guest host Tulsi Gabbard on Fox News’s Tucker Carlson Tonight to speak on the victory:

Former President Trump gloated about the win on Truth Social.

“Was just advised that the Unselect Committee of political Thugs has withdrawn the Subpoena of me concerning the January 6th Protest of the CROOKED 2020 Presidential Election,” Trump wrote. “They probably did so because they knew I did nothing wrong, or they were about to lose in Court. Perhaps the FBI’s involvement in RIGGING the Election played into their decision. In any event, the Subpoena is DEAD!”
