Biden’s DHS Chief Ignores Question About Record Number Of Illegals Allowed Into US

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas refused to answer a reporter’s question about the shocking number of illegal aliens being allowed into the U.S. through ports of entry at the southern border.

The Biden administration continues to let thousands of illegal aliens enter the U.S. through ports of entry — the majority of whom do not have valid asylum claims and are just economic migrants. According to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there were 99,495 illegal alien encounters at the southern border in June — while another 45,026 encounters were recorded at ports of entry, a record high.

Through the CBP One phone app, the Biden administration has increased entry appointments — with the number of aliens processed for entry through the app reaching 38,000 in June.

Now, Mayorkas is refusing to respond to questions about the record-high numbers of illegal aliens that the Biden administration is allowing into the country.

The DHS secretary was asked about the issue by reporter Jennie Taer while he was walking with his dog and several security officers on Tuesday.

Mayorkas didn’t answer the question, and only responded after the woman identified herself as a reporter for the Daily Caller.

“I’m sorry?” he said.

“The illegal encounters are low, but you’re bringing people through the ports of entry, do you have an answer to that? Do you have any explanation?” the reporter asked again.

Mayorkas once again ignored Taer, walking away from her. She ended up encountering Mayorkas nearby moments later — where she asked him why he refused to answer her question.

“Mr. Secretary, I asked you a question earlier about the southern border and you refused to answer. Are you sure you don’t have anything to say?” Taer asked, prompting Mayorkas to silently walk away.

The Biden administration’s use of the CBP One app to rush illegal aliens into the U.S. has been a point of concern for some time now. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) referred to the app as “Ticketmaster for illegal immigrants” during Mayorkas’ testimony before the House in March.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) also called out the CBP One app in a statement to the Daily Caller, arguing that it is part of a “shell game.”

“There’s the lying to Congress, there’s the CBP One app, which is just this big shell game to produce automatic mass parole in violation of the laws passed by Congress. It is a wanton disregard for the separation of powers and the Constitution of the United States,” Green wrote.
