CNN’s Chris Cillizza is Mocked After Identifying The ‘Sneaky Big Issue’ of the 2022 Elections

CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza was ridiculed after posting on Twitter that he had identified a “sneaky big issue” in the upcoming midterm elections.

“This could be the new sneaky big issue of the 2022 election,” Cillizza tweeted, sharing a link to a CNN article written by himself on the subject of illegal immigration.

“With all the focus of late on inflation and its impact on the coming midterm elections, we may be overlooking another issue gaining traction among the American public: immigration,” he wrote in the article.

Cillizza went on to discuss how polls indicate that illegal immigration is increasingly becoming an important issue for voters, and noted that many are unhappy about how the Democrats have dealt with the issue.

His tweet was immediately met with severe backlash, being “ratioed” — which means that it had a significant amount of mocking responses compared to the number of retweets in support. Currently, Cillizza’s tweet has 159 responses, just 4 retweets, and 11 likes.

Comments from social media users ridiculed the CNN editor-at-large, pointing out that illegal immigration had been a prominent part of the Republican campaign platform under former President Donald Trump and for a long time before him.

“Super under the radar issue that absolutely no one has paid any attention to unless you count the 4 straight years of ‘Build that Wall’ chants,” one user replied.

“How in the hell could you be a member of the legacy media and remain unaware of how big an issue the border crisis is?” said another commenter.

“The idiocy of leftist progressive ‘journalists’ is truly breathtaking in depth and breadth. Apparently cilliza has been living under a rock for the past 15 months,” another user wrote.

“You know that issue everybody but the news media has been talking about for years? That’s some quality journalism, right there,” another user replied.

“I just love this guy,” said Charles C.W. Cooke of National Review.

This tweet from Cillizza just further proves the point that many conservative critics of the left have made: Conservatives actually consume some left-wing news, so they understand the left’s arguments, ideas, concerns and positions somewhat, but the left refuses to consume conservative news, so they are completely unaware of any conservative arguments, ideas, concerns or positions. The fact that he didn’t understand that illegal immigration was an important issue shows his complete lack of familiarity with the rest of the country.
