Crockett Rejects Accusations After Bondi Suggests Protest Comments Were Dangerous

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has denied promoting violence following claims by Attorney General Pam Bondi that she implied harm against Elon Musk during a Tesla protest event. The dispute stems from Crockett’s remarks during a virtual rally where she said she wanted to see Musk “taken down” on her birthday.

Crockett clarified that her words referred to a peaceful economic protest organized by the Tesla Takedown campaign. She said she never encouraged violence and had even advised supporters to follow local laws during demonstrations.

Bondi accused Crockett of making threatening statements and warned that public officials should avoid rhetoric that might incite unrest. She stated that Musk’s safety was not at risk and that her office would protect both him and Tesla’s customers.

Tesla Takedown has grown in response to Musk’s leadership role in the Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administration. The group argues that Musk is leveraging Tesla profits to pursue political goals, and they plan to protest at Tesla dealerships on March 29.

Crockett, who serves on the DOGE Oversight Committee, said her criticism of Musk is grounded in concerns about corporate influence on government. She defended her involvement in the protest movement as an expression of protected speech.

Tesla Takedown organizers have disavowed all violence, stating on their website that the movement does not support vandalism or unlawful behavior. They are calling for mass, peaceful action against what they view as corporate overreach.

The Trump administration has taken a firm stance on recent criminal activity involving Tesla property, labeling those attacks as domestic terrorism and threatening harsh penalties. Officials have made no link between those crimes and the organized protest movement.
