Earlier this year, Texas and Arizona responded to President Biden’s willingness to accept an endless number of illegal immigrants into the country with a simple solution: using a fleet of charter buses to send those undocumented aliens to Washington D.C., directly to the president’s doorstep.
Now, D.C.’s Democratic mayor is pushing back against the wave of illegal aliens flooding her city, complaining that the immigrants — the same ones Biden and Democrats across the country have been so eager to accommodate — are too much for the city’s infrastructure and are overwhelming the government’s resources.
After being asked about a Washington Post report that D.C.’s homeless shelters were being overwhelmed by the buses of migrants, Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser admitted that the influx of immigrants was a “very significant” problem for her city, but tried to claim that the migrants were being “tricked” by Texas and Arizona.
“Well, this is a very significant issue,” Bowser said. “We have for sure called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses. We think they’re largely asylum seekers who are going to final destinations that are not Washington D.C.”
While Bowser was busy trying to hide her disdain for the influx with ridiculous claims of migrants being “tricked” into a free bus ride, others were quick to point out the irony of the situation.
“D.C. is getting a small example of what TX & AZ border towns have to deal with every single day, with far less capacity,” Fox News Correspondent Bill Melugin tweeted.
Texas and Arizona’s programs to bus illegal immigrants to the nation’s capital were first implemented in April. At the time, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott made it clear that his plan was a direct response to the Biden administration and their willingness to accept “hordes” of migrants into the country.
“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send those illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington D.C.,” Abbott said.
