Democrats ‘Disgracefully’ Threaten To Remove Security From Supreme Court

Republicans are blasting Senate Democrats after prominent party members threatened to slash $10 million in security funding for Supreme Court justices.

The Democratic temper tantrum over high court rulings on abortion and gun control continues.

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) ripped their congressional colleagues after the “disgraceful” proposal. Cruz charged that liberal senators are “willing to threaten the lives of the justices.”

The accusations came during the Democrats’ Supreme Court Ethics Reform Senate hearing. That followed a protracted media splash where the left attempted to smear conservative justices with charges of ethics violations.

Security funding is even more important after radical leftists gathered at justice’s homes during 2022’s explosive controversy over Roe v. Wade. An assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh was thwarted, leading to calls for ramped-up security for the jurists.

The Senate passed the measure unanimously, but the House was another story.

The bill for increased protection also passed the House, but 27 Democrats opposed its passage. They included radical “Squad” members such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Jamall Bowman (D-NY), and Cori Bush (D-MO).

In the latest shameful episode of liberal Democrats brushing aside threats from their own supporters, 15 senators sent a letter to the subcommittee in charge of the Supreme Court budget. They asked the top Republican and Democrat on the panel to require the high court adopt a new ethics code.

The letter argued that Congress, despite clear constitutional separation of powers, has the authority to force the court to enact Democrats’ so-called “reforms.”

The letter ended with a threat to withhold $10 million unless the appropriations committees in both the Senate and House are notified that the ethics reform measure is in place.

Not coincidentally, the high court’s 2024 budget request calls for just over $4 million in security funding from the Chips and Science Act and another almost $6 million from other sources. The grand total? Roughly ten million, the same number Democrats want to withhold.

As Hawley correctly concluded, “in other words, the threat is: We will deny you security unless you do what we want.”

Despite the Kavanaugh assassination attempt, the left wants you to believe that all domestic threats come from “right-wing extremists.” Their own followers are free to indulge in violence, and Supreme Court justices may be threatened if necessary for Democrats to get their way.
