Donald Trump Jr. Launches Gun Rights Group

Donald Trump Jr. announced the launch of a new American gun rights organization to combat the efforts of Joe Biden’s administration to “trample Second Amendment rights.”

Trump is the chairman of the Second Amendment Task Force (2ATF), a group he founded with the mission of “engaging grassroots activists” in defending American Constitutional rights. The group calls on members to work with lawmakers and activists to protect gun rights from government infringement.

Trump wrote on the 2ATF website that he saw first-hand the effects of communism when visiting his grandparents as a child in the former Czechoslovakia, which led him to be convinced that “our freedoms are worth fighting for.”

Trump told Tucker Carlson on his Fox News show that the 2ATF grew out of the “David Chipman incident.” That refers to Biden’s appointment of a radical anti-gun activist known as the “Whacko of Waco” to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

Trump told Carlson that Biden’s “Ministry of Truth” is designed to attack the First Amendment while his ATF nominees are intended to attack the Second.

Biden ultimately had to withdraw Chipman’s nomination because of his inability to stand up under questions from a Senate committee about his activist history.

Even CNN labeled Chipman as a “fierce advocate for gun control” at the time he was being exposed before the Senate. He made false claims during the 1993 Waco standoff with the Branch Davidians that ended in massacre that church members shot down two helicopters. His claims were used to bolster efforts to restrict Americans’ access to so-called “assault rifles.”

Biden has now appointed former Ohio U.S. Attorney Steve Dettelbach for the position. Trump described Dettelbach as “another AR-15 grabbing gun hater.” He has a long history of supporting gun control measures, especially during his failed run in 2018 for state attorney general of Ohio.

Trump said 2ATF will put pressure on senators to support the Second Amendment and individual rights instead of Biden appointees who are dedicated to taking them down. He said that the “attack on the Second Amendment is just as real as the First.” He said that the group will work on red-state Democrats to be sure the “radical nominees cannot get confirmed.”
