Elon Musk: Fauci Files Coming ‘Later This Week’

Twitter owner and CEO Elon Musk tweeted a response to an inquiry about the release of the “Fauci Files” this past New Year’s Day, saying the report would go live on Twitter “later this week”. The files could possibly include information about how the social media giant may have colluded with Dr. Anthony Fauci and other government agencies to censor and manipulate content on the platform.

The Fauci Files would be the latest edition of a series of “Twitter Files” that have previously exposed elected officials and the federal government for working with Twitter to stifle free speech and intentionally censoring information that did not fit a desired political agenda.

The Twitter Files have already shed light on how “the United States government pressured Twitter and other social media platforms to elevate certain content and suppress other content about Covid-19”, and more of the same narrative could be prevalent in the upcoming release of the Fauci Files.

Dr. Anthony Fauci stepped down as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases last month after nearly four decades of serving as head of the agency. Fauci’s role during the COVID-19 pandemic was highly controversial as his opinions on how to deal with the spread of the disease often collided with former President Donald Trump.

Elon Musk has shared some similar concerns and skepticisms of the nation’s top scientist, previously tweeting that the Tesla CEO’s pronouns are “Prosecute/Fauci” and even calling Fauci “creepy” just last week.

Musk has long advocated for freedom of speech on Twitter, so much so that he made a move to purchase the company for $44 billion last October. Since then, Twitter has seen an uptick in growth and an updated subscription-based Twitter Blue platform.

The Twitter Files series is right in line with the steps Musk is taking to uncover the truth about the platform, improve the transparency of both the federal government and Big Tech, and make improvements to ensure that the future of Twitter is one that promotes accurate and accessible content.

It’s no surprise that Dr. Fauci has been included in Musk’s endeavor to accomplish those goals given the comments from the billionaire on his position. While it isn’t certain what exactly the files will contain, it’s expected that they “won’t be boring.”
