Elon Musk, the owner of X and Tesla, is warning that a Kamala Harris presidency would result in legal efforts to shut down X if she wins the 2024 election. During a sit-down interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk shared his concerns that a Harris administration would target his companies and take aggressive legal action to suppress the platform.
“They’ll try to shut it down by any means possible,” Musk said, predicting that Harris would employ “lawfare” against X, using legal strategies to undermine the platform. Musk believes that his support for free speech and his decision to allow open discourse on X have made him a target for the Biden-Harris administration.
Musk pointed to recent lawsuits brought against his companies, such as the Department of Justice’s case against SpaceX, which alleges the company did not hire asylum seekers. Musk emphasized that SpaceX is subject to national security regulations that require it to limit its hires to citizens and permanent residents. Additionally, Tesla has been facing a lawsuit from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which alleges racial harassment within the company.
Musk has been a strong supporter of President Donald Trump’s efforts to return to the White House and has donated to Republican campaigns. His involvement in conservative causes, he believes, will prompt further legal challenges from a Harris-led administration.
Kamala Harris has not issued any public response to Musk’s comments.
