Gabbard Blocks Shady Intelligence Officials From Classified Information Access

A major shake-up in the intelligence community has led to the removal of security clearances for 51 former officials who were involved in spreading misleading claims about Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 election. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard confirmed Monday that these individuals will no longer have access to classified materials.

Those affected by the decision include former CIA Directors John Brennan and Leon Panetta, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton. Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and New York Attorney General Letitia James have also had their clearances revoked.

Gabbard also announced that former President Joe Biden has been removed from the list of those who receive the President’s Daily Brief, a move that effectively cuts off his access to sensitive intelligence updates.

The revocations follow an executive order issued by President Donald Trump on his first day back in office. The order directed the DNI to investigate whether intelligence officials had improperly used their influence in domestic elections and to recommend disciplinary actions.

The 51 intelligence officials signed a letter in 2020 dismissing reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation, despite later admitting that they had no direct proof to support those claims. The letter was used to justify social media censorship of the story, impacting public perception in the lead-up to the election.

Gabbard has already taken additional actions to clean up intelligence agencies, recently removing over 100 employees from the National Security Agency for misconduct related to internal classified communication channels.
