Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) revealed alarming information during an interview with Breitbart News Daily, stating that at least five assassination teams are operating in the U.S. with the intent to kill President Donald Trump. According to Gaetz, three of these teams are foreign, and two are domestic, raising concerns about the level of protection around the Republican presidential candidate.
Gaetz, who spoke with a senior Department of Homeland Security official, said the threats are serious and the current level of protection for Trump is insufficient. He cited the recent assassination attempt outside of Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course as an example of the ongoing danger. The suspect was arrested, but Gaetz warned that such attempts are becoming more frequent.
“We are aware of at least five teams in-country that are geared toward killing Trump,” Gaetz stated. He identified Iran, Ukraine, and Pakistan as countries involved in the foreign assassination teams, adding that the lack of scrutiny on these threats is alarming.
Gaetz called for a review of the resources allocated to protect Trump, particularly as some security resources have reportedly been diverted to other details. He urged Congress to ensure that Trump receives the protection necessary to prevent further assassination attempts.
