Israel Strikes Yemen’s Oil Depot In Retaliation For Tel Aviv Drone Attack

The conflict in the Middle East intensified as Israel launched a significant retaliatory strike on Yemen on Saturday. This response followed a suicide drone attack in Tel Aviv, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to ten others. The attack, carried out by Houthi forces, saw a drone flying undetected through Israel’s Iron Dome and striking a building in downtown Tel Aviv.

Footage of the drone attack, captured by a beachgoer, shows the drone speeding overhead before it disappeared into the city skyline and detonated. The impact occurred near Shalom Aleichem Street, roughly 1,000 feet from a U.S. Embassy branch, raising concerns about security in the area.

In response to this provocation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. An IDF statement confirmed, “A short while ago, IDF fighter jets struck military targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in the area of the Al Hudaydah Port in Yemen in response to the hundreds of attacks carried out against the State of Israel in recent months.”

Videos shared online depict the intense bombardment and the subsequent devastation in the targeted zones. Unconfirmed reports suggest that one of Yemen’s largest oil refineries was hit by around a dozen F-35 Raptors in a joint operation involving U.S. forces. This escalation hints at increasing U.S. involvement in the conflict.

The Times of Israel reported that the strike on the fuel depot and oil refineries at the port of Al Hudaydah was a coordinated effort by Israel, the U.S., and the U.K. According to unnamed sources, twelve Israeli aircraft, including F-35 fighter jets, participated in the operation.

Social media users shared videos of the aftermath, showing the oil refinery engulfed in flames and significant destruction in the area. The Houthis have vowed retaliation, signaling a potential escalation in the ongoing conflict.

This incident highlights the fragile and volatile nature of the Middle East, where retaliatory strikes can quickly escalate into broader confrontations involving multiple nations. As tensions rise, the international community watches closely, hoping to avoid further escalation and seeking ways to mediate the conflict.
