Vice President Kamala Harris is facing serious allegations from former staffers who claim she subjected them to a toxic work environment during her tenure as California’s Attorney General. The accusations include verbal abuse and extreme intimidation tactics.
According to one former staffer, employees were required to stand and greet Harris with “Good morning, general” each morning. They were also forbidden from making eye contact with her unless they were senior staff members, creating a culture of fear and anxiety.
These revelations were highlighted in a 2019 op-ed for The Union by Democrat professor Terry McAteer, who detailed his son Gregory’s internship experience with Harris in 2011. McAteer wrote to expose “a side of Kamala Harris which the general public does not know.”
“Gregory was also given instruction to never address Harris nor look her in the eye,” McAteer wrote. “Staff members lived in complete fear during her tenure as attorney general from 2011 to 2017.”
Harris has frequently been accused of being a “bully” throughout her career. A recent report from OpenTheBooks.com indicated a 95.1 percent staff turnover rate in her office as Vice President. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) confirmed these issues, stating in an interview with Fox News, “Nobody lasts very long while working for Kamala Harris. Even as VP, when she didn’t do anything, she could not keep staff.”
These claims cast a shadow on Harris’s leadership style and raise concerns about her treatment of employees.
