Musk’s Fight With Zuckerberg To Be Streamed Live On X

A fight between rival Big Tech billionaires has been in the works for weeks, and it appears to be moving closer to reality.

In June, X CEO Elon Musk wrote on the platform, which was known as Twitter at the time, that he would be “up for a cage match” with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Accepting the challenge, Zuckerberg asked Musk to provide the location.

While there are still some fundamental details that have yet to be announced, Musk posted an update on Sunday that the fight would be “live-streamed on X” and proceeds from the event will go to support military veterans.

He went on to confirm that he is getting in shape for the fight by “lifting weights throughout the day,” working around his busy schedule by bringing weights into the office.

For his part, Zuckerberg — who took home gold and silver medals at his first jiu-jitsu competition earlier this year — asserted that he is ready to take on Musk and is only waiting for confirmation about the time and place.

“I’m ready today,” the Facebook founder wrote. “I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed. Not holding my breath.”

As for the location of the fight, Italian officials reportedly reached out to the pair to offer the ancient Roman Colosseum as a venue. Both Musk and Zuckerberg expressed some interest in the idea, but Musk has since indicated that the likely location will be the Ultimate Fighting Championship octagon in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Musk also provided a candid assessment of his chances against his younger and lighter opponent.

“If the fight is short, I probably win,” he wrote in a post on Sunday. “If long, he may win on endurance. I am much bigger and there is a reason [mixed martial arts] has weight divisions.”

In a follow-up post, Musk indicated that the fight could be postponed due to an unspecified medical issue.

“Exact date is still in flux,” he wrote. “I’m getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow. May require surgery before the fight can happen. Will know this week.”
