Organ Harvesting Company Linked To University Of Pittsburgh Spotted At Planned Parenthood

A representative from the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE), an organ harvesting company linked to the University of Pittsburgh, was spotted at a Planned Parenthood facility in Western Pennsylvania.

CORE, a Pittsburgh-based company, provides organ harvesting and tissue procurement services. One of their biggest clients is the University of Pittsburgh, which uses organs and tissues for research.

The issue is that the University of Pittsburgh has denied using fetal tissue obtained from Planned Parenthood.

In 2021, a representative for the university swore under testimony to the Pennsylvania House Health Committee that the university does not source its tissue and organs from Planned Parenthood.

“The Biospecimen Core does not obtain tissue from Planned Parenthood, or any other source other than UPMC facilities,” stated Dr. Jeremy Rich, the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s deputy director of research.

A third party investigated the university and found that its research was “fully compliant with applicable laws,” but many believe the investigation was too limited in scope. Critics pointed out that the investigation did not encompass the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and its Maggee-Women’s Hospital.

“This is a significant omission because some of the most atrocious allegations, including labor-induced, partial-birth abortions, occur at UPMC,” wrote Federalist reporter Madeline Osburn.

Osburn said that “more abortions are performed [in these facilities] than in any other hospital in the state.”

Recently, advocates for the pro-life group, 40 Days for Life, recorded a CORE representative carrying plastic bags out of a Planned Parenthood facility in Western Pennsylvania and placing them in a cooler.

The footage begins by showing a sedan parked outside the Planned Parenthood facility with the CORE logo on the window. Later, the CORE staffer emerged from the clinic with plastic bags and placed them inside a cooler in the back of the CORE vehicle.

David Daleiden, founder and president of The Center for Medical Progress, was outraged by the incident.

“The University of Pittsburgh swore under oath that it did not harvest fetal organs from Planned Parenthood — so what is the University’s organ harvesting company doing parked at the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic with coolers?” asked Daleiden. “The lies from Pitt and Planned Parenthood must stop now and elected officials in Pennsylvania must demand the truth.”
