Senators Looking For Answers About FBI Role In Delaying Hunter Biden Investigation

Many Republican senators are livid about new revelations that the federal law enforcement participated in politically-motivated protection of a potential criminal, and are calling on the FBI to address how they have gone about handling the critical investigation into Hunter Biden, the president’s son, and his illicit business dealings.

Breitbart reports that Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) sent a letter to the FBI on Thursday which requested that officials respond to questions surrounding an 87-page report that was recently released.

The senators noted in their letter that FBI Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Bradley Benavides and FBI Intelligence Analyst in Charge of the Washington Field Office Intelligence Division Nikki Floris “provided Sens. Grassley and Johnson an unnecessary briefing on behalf of the FBI and Intelligence Community” regarding issues that were supposedly “related to the senators’ investigation into Hunter Biden.”

They claimed that the briefing caused “a leak that falsely labeled the investigation as advancing Russian disinformation.”

“Simply put, the unnecessary FBI briefing provided the Democrats and liberal media the vehicle to spread their false narrative that our work advanced Russian disinformation,” the Republican senators wrote. “Although you stated that the FBI didn’t intend to ‘interfere’ in our investigation, the practical effect of such an unnecessary briefing and the subsequent leaks relating to it created interference, which frustrated and obstructed congressional oversight efforts.”

“We also made clear our concern that the briefing would be subject to a leak that would shed a false light on the focus of our investigation,” the senators added, pointing to an article from the Washington Post that they said “did exactly that.”

Grassley and Johnson are now demanding to interview Benavides and Floris, the FBI officials behind the controversial 2020 FBI briefing on Russia.

The request comes just one day after Johnson highlighted a whistleblower’s allegation claiming that FBI agents were told by their superiors that they did not need to prioritize an investigation of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election because the FBI was “not going to change the outcome of the election again.”

The letter follows a revelation from Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who claimed during an appearance on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast which aired Thursday that the FBI had come to him to warn him of an imminent “dump” of “Russian propaganda” shortly before the news of Hunter Biden’s laptop came out.

The majority of Americans are extremely suspicious of Hunter Biden’s activities, and recent polls suggest that had Americans known about the veracity of the stories being suppressed about him, the election would have tilted — even further — toward then-President Donald Trump.
