Trump Signs Order Releasing Secret Files On JFK, RFK, MLK Assassinations

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order requiring the declassification of the remaining government files linked to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The action fulfills one of Trump’s key campaign promises after decades of withheld information.

The executive order was signed at the White House, where Trump remarked on the significance of the disclosure. “People have been waiting for this for decades,” he said before handing the signing pen to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Although most documents related to JFK’s assassination were released in 2022, with the National Archives stating that 97% of the files had been made public, critical portions remained classified. Many believe these remaining documents could provide answers to lingering questions about the events surrounding the 1963 assassination in Dallas.

During his first term, Trump had initially approved the release of some documents but withheld others at the request of intelligence agencies. With this new order, those concerns have been set aside in favor of full transparency.

The King family acknowledged the announcement and expressed their desire to review the materials before their public release. Under previous law, documents related to King’s assassination were not scheduled for release until 2027.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) welcomed Trump’s move, calling it a long-overdue step toward government accountability. She added that Americans deserve to know the full truth about these historic tragedies.
