As thousands of Ukrainian soldiers face entrapment by Russian forces, President Donald Trump has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt further military action and agree to a ceasefire. Trump, who has been in direct talks with Moscow, remains hopeful that the conflict could soon end, though the situation on the ground remains dire.
Trump took to Truth Social to express his concerns, stating, “At this very moment, thousands of Ukrainian troops are completely surrounded by the Russian military, and in a very bad and vulnerable position. I have strongly requested to President Putin that their lives be spared. This would be a horrible massacre, one not seen since World War II. God bless them all!!!”

While Putin has acknowledged discussions with Washington, he has not yet committed to stopping his offensive. Instead, Moscow has placed conditions on any ceasefire agreement, raising concerns that the war could drag on despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
🚨HISTORIC DAY🚨 Trump just brokered a Putin-backed ceasefire, is moving to ANNEX GREENLAND, and just slapped NATO into paying up—all while crushing the border crisis and putting Europe on notice with 200% tariffs!

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of using negotiations as a way to delay and complicate the process. He stated that Russia is the only party resisting peace efforts and claimed Putin is avoiding direct acknowledgment that he intends to prolong the war.
International intelligence agencies remain doubtful that Russia will adhere to any ceasefire agreement, warning that even if an agreement is reached, Putin may use alternative means to continue military aggression. A European intelligence official suggested that Putin believes he can manipulate Trump into making concessions that would benefit Moscow.
The G7 issued a strong statement condemning Russia’s actions, vowing to increase economic pressure if Putin refuses to agree to a peace deal. The group also emphasized the need for long-term measures to prevent further Russian military campaigns.
Meanwhile, Russian forces have taken control of additional Ukrainian territory, strengthening their position in ongoing negotiations. Military analysts suggest that Putin may be using battlefield gains to increase his leverage in diplomatic talks with Washington.
