US Transportation Secretary is Digging the Biden Administration Into a Deeper Hole

If there’s one thing that’s become apparent over the past year, it’s the overlap between the U.S. energy sector and the economy.

Last year, Biden charted the current course to high gas prices. The president did this by gutting U.S. pipelines, enabling the operations of foreign pipelines (like Nord Stream 2), and revoking leases for drilling and other important energy functions.

The end result of all this has been gas prices that are many times higher than they need to be. Yet, instead of the Biden administration taking action to restore US energy dependence, pipeline operations, drilling permits, etc., they’re trying to ram through an anti-energy agenda.

There’s been a lot of talk about now being the time for Americans to start using electric vehicles.

But the latest public statements from U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg have only dug the Biden administration into a deeper hole with the American public, per Twitchy.

Secretary Buttigieg on Gas Prices in America

During a recent speech, the Transportation Secretary stated that until the United States can come across energy independence rooted in “clean energy,” high gas prices are going to persist.

“Clean energy” and “electric cars” have been the go-to talking points for this administration for quite some time, as it pertains to the increased energy prices. In fact, the Biden administration is openly stating that current gas prices create the ideal chance for people to transition away from gas-fueled vehicles.

The logic behind this argument is flawed, to say the least. Most Americans don’t have $80,000 laying around. This is the average cost of electric vehicles; although, with inflation here, even this price point might go up.

If the Transportation Secretary and others in the Biden administration were serious about putting America first, they wouldn’t create a crisis solely for the purpose of pushing through their own agenda.

Reactions to Buttigieg’s Statement

The Transportation Secretary has been raked across the coals on social media for his remarks about “clean energy” and gas prices.

Some people noted the smirk that Buttigieg made after stating that only energy independence from “clean energy” is going to lower gas prices. Critics viewed this as Buttigieg making a mockery of families who are barely surviving these days.

Other social media users stated that the “clean energy” referenced by Buttigieg and others within the Biden administration simply doesn’t exist.

The reality is that this White House could lower gas prices anytime they want to; the Biden administration could do this by lifting the restrictions imposed upon the US energy sector.

At the end of the day, this president’s refusal to lift his anti-energy policies makes him unfit for public office.
