GOP Loyalty Bombshell: Tucker Carlson Walks

Tucker Carlson just declared he’s done with the Republican Party — and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene quickly followed, raising a big question: is a crack forming in the conservative base ahead of the midterms?

Quick Take

  • Tucker Carlson announced on a podcast that he will no longer support the Republican Party, calling its foreign policy priorities “immoral.”
  • Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene echoed Carlson within hours, posting on X that she is “DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.”
  • Both say they will not switch to the Democratic Party, leaving their political future uncertain ahead of the November midterms.
  • The split centers on U.S. involvement in the Iran conflict and the GOP’s close alignment with Israel — issues where Carlson and Greene say American citizens are being put last.

Carlson Says ‘I’m Out’ After Decades of GOP Support

Tucker Carlson made the announcement during a June 18 episode of the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast. He said he has voted Republican his entire life but can no longer defend the party. “I would not support the Republican Party — there’s no chance,” Carlson said. “How could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States?” He called the behavior “immoral” and said it was the “exact opposite” of what a political party is supposed to do.[2]

Carlson’s main complaint is that Republican leaders have put the interests of a foreign country — specifically Israel — above those of American citizens. He pointed to the Trump administration’s backing of the Iran conflict as a key example, calling it a war the U.S. has “effectively lost already.” Carlson has been drifting away from the GOP since he was fired from Fox News in 2023. He has also publicly criticized President Trump on other issues, including a post where Trump shared an AI image of himself as a religious figure.[1]

Greene Jumps In: ‘We Are DONE’

Former Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene wasted no time backing Carlson’s stance. On June 22, she posted on X: “Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party. There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country.” She branded the GOP the “America LAST Republican Party” and made clear she is not heading to the Democrats either.[11]

Greene lost Trump’s endorsement before the 2026 cycle and is no longer in Congress. Her departure from the party carries less immediate political weight than it once would have. Still, her voice reaches a large online audience, and her quick alignment with Carlson shows the frustration runs deep among some in the former MAGA coalition. Both figures say they speak for a larger group of conservatives who feel abandoned by party leadership.[16]

What This Actually Means for Conservatives

It is worth keeping this in perspective. Most conservative voters still support President Trump’s foreign policy direction.[17] The Republican Party has always had an internal debate between those who favor strong alliances abroad and those who prefer a stricter “America First” approach. Carlson and Greene represent the loudest voices in the non-interventionist wing, but they do not represent the majority of GOP voters heading into the midterms.

Neither Carlson nor Greene has said where they will go from here. Carlson admitted on the podcast, “I don’t know what I’m going to do.” Some observers note that both figures have strong incentives to stay relevant by positioning themselves as outsiders — and that they may find their way back to supporting Republican candidates when election day arrives.[3] For now, their departure is a loud signal that the foreign policy debate inside conservatism is far from settled.
