On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Hamas terrorists had already violated the temporary ceasefire in Gaza by attacking IDF forces in several different locations.
The IDF made the announcement in a statement released on Tuesday, which they shared to X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Over the last hour, 3 explosive devices were detonated adjacent to IDF troops in 2 different locations in northern Gaza, violating the framework of the operational pause,” the statement read. “In one of the locations, terrorists also opened fire at the troops, who responded with fire.”
The IDF went on to note that the only injuries suffered by their troops were minor and confirmed that the IDF forces who were attacked had been located in the areas designated for them during the ceasefire.
“A number of soldiers were lightly injured during the incidents,” the statement continued. “IDF troops were located in positions as per the framework of the operational pause.”

According to reporting from The Jerusalem Post, the IDF is still in the process of determining whether the attacks were a signal from the Palestinian terror group Hamas that they wanted to end the temporary ceasefire early — or whether the attacks were just a test from the terrorists to see what they could get away with. They are also considering the possibility that the attacks were not ordered by Hamas and were committed by low-ranking terrorists violating the ceasefire of their own volition.
Meanwhile, Hamas has claimed that the attacks were not a deliberate attempt to end the ceasefire.
However, the IDF is already talking about resuming their war on Hamas in light of the attacks — with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi issuing a statement that the IDF was ready to resume combat operations immediately.
“The IDF is ready today to continue fighting,” his statement read. “We are using the days of respite as part of the [hostage release] outline for learning, strengthening readiness, and approving the operational plans for the continuation.”
“We are preparing to continue fighting to dismantle Hamas,” Halevi added. “It will take time, these are complex goals, but none of there is nothing more just.”
The ceasefire is set to expire later this week following the conclusion of the “hostage exchange” — where Hamas will continue to release Israeli civilians that terrorists captured during the horrific attack on October 7 in exchange for Palestinian criminals being released from Israeli prisons.
