Mayor Adams Declares Migrant Crisis Will ‘Destroy’ NYC

In a stunning display of honesty and clarity from one of the least likely sources, New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams acknowledged the bitter truth Wednesday night in a town hall meeting.

Addressing what had to be a shocked audience, he said he never “had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”

Adams reported that the beleaguered city is trying to absorb 10,000 migrants per month. He said at one point they were just from Venezuela, but now they are travelers from Ecuador, Russian speakers, and West Africans.

It is startling to see the mayor of a Democratic stronghold admit the destructive power of President Joe Biden’s open border policies. But Adams saw over 100,000 illegal aliens set up camp within the city, according to the New York Times.

This is the same city, of course, that declared itself to be a “sanctuary” for all illegals. But now harsh reality has set in.

Its 200 shelters are full, hastily erected humanitarian shelters are overflowing, hotels are maxed out and school buildings are controversially being used to put roofs over the heads of illegal migrants.

There are even ludicrous suggestions that New Yorkers take migrants into their own homes, something city leaders have yet to do themselves.

After his bleak outlook for the city’s prospects, Adams turned his anger to Biden’s White House. He charged that the administration has provided “no support” for the nation’s largest city.

He asserted, “Month after month I stood up and said this is going to come to a neighborhood near you. Well, we’re here, we’re getting no support on this national crisis, and we’re receiving no support.”

Adams also directed his misplaced rage toward Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. After claiming that he single-handedly “turned this city around” in 20 months in office, he pointed to his rival for criticism.

According to his honor, the city’s problems “started with a madman down in Texas who decided he wanted to bus people up to New York City.”

It’s funny how there was no concern coming from these Democratic utopias until busloads of illegal migrants showed up at their doorsteps. Before Abbott’s brilliant program, they were able to criticize border states from a safe distance.

But no more.
