Trudeau Claims Trump Will Severely Hinder Leftists’ Climate Agenda

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently issued a scathing rebuke of former President Donald Trump, claiming that the former president will hinder the left’s climate agenda if he wins the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Trudeau’s comments come as 69% of Canadians have called on him to resign.

During a recent interview with state media host Rosemary Barton, a fierce supporter of Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister denounced the former president, claiming that Trump’s “threat to rip up NAFTA [North American Free Trade Agreement]” during his presidential tenure and his “desire to move backward in climate change was a menace not just to Canada but to the world.”

“There’s a concern particularly around the environment at a time where it’s so important to move forward on protecting and building an economy of the future where energy workers, miners, forestry workers across this country, and manufacturing across this country continues to be successful as we move towards lower emissions,” Trudeau said.

The Canadian prime minister later claimed that if Trump is victorious in the forthcoming U.S. presidential election, efforts against climate change would be hindered.

“A Trump presidency that goes back on the fight against climate change would slow down the world’s progress in ways that are concerning to me,” Trudeau claimed.

Trudeau’s comments against Trump come as he faces growing opposition from Canadians. The Canadian prime minister’s climate policies have veered jobs away from Canadians and have dealt a severe blow to the country’s oil and gas industry, which comprises 5% of Canada’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Trudeau’s political party, the Liberal Party of Canada, has proposed an emissions camp on oil and gas. Such a proposal has been condemned by officials in Alberta, who have pledged to develop a “constitutional shield” against the party’s climate plan.

Trudeau faces an ever-growing threat from Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, who is projected to defeat the liberal prime minister in Canada’s next presidential election.

Poilievre has vowed to “axe” Trudeau’s carbon tax, among other climate policies that have devastated the working class.

In disastrous news for Trudeau, Abacus recently reported that Canada’s Conservative Party would garner twice as many votes as Trudeau’s party if the country’s federal election was held in January 2024.
