Trump, 25 Governors Support Texas In Border Showdown With Biden

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday joined a groundswell of support for Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in his battle with the Biden White House over border security.

Earlier in the day, 25 governors announced they stand firm with Abbott in defending the nation from the all-out invasion. This came as some Democrats called for Biden to federalize the Texas National Guard in a move that would sharply escalate the standoff.

The governors criticized the incumbent for failing to stop “historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.”

Trump, as could be expected, also strongly backed Abbott’s courageous position in defense of national security.

The 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner accused Biden of surrendering the border and “aiding and abetting a massive invasion of millions of illegal migrants into the United States.”

Trump accused the White House of attempting to tie Abbott’s hands instead of coming to the defense of U.S. citizens. He added, “Texas has rightly invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution and must be given full support to repel the invasion.”

The 45th president further encouraged “all willing states” to send their National Guard forces to Texas to repel the daily influx of thousands of illegals.

Another presidential candidate, independent longshot Robert F. Kennedy Jr., agreed with Trump that Texas was “right” to defend itself from the invasion.

He posted on X, formerly Twitter, that “a country without borders is not a country at all.”

Other voices included Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. He blasted the Biden administration for failing to secure the border and offered his support for Texas’ “constitutional right to defend itself.”

And Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) accused Biden of bringing “havoc in every corner of our country, including Louisiana.”

But it was Trump who came out most forcefully in front of the national response in favor of Abbott’s resistance. The White House contender said he would work with the governor and other border states to “begin the largest domestic deportation operation in history.”

Writing on his Truth Social platform, the 45th president declared, “Those Biden has let in should not get comfortable because they will be going home.”
