Answers Demanded After FBI, DOJ Labels Catholics ‘Potential Terrorists’

A broad coalition of Republicans is calling out Biden’s FBI and Justice Department over an explosive leaked FBI memo. The writing incredibly revealed that the agency considered labeling traditional Catholics as “potential terrorists.”

Led by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, a group of 20 Republican attorneys general is threatening legal action against the administration after the discovery of the internal document.

That document originated in the FBI’s Richmond, Virginia, field office.

Fox News Digital obtained a letter from Miyares and his colleagues to the FBI and DOJ. The officials demanded that Washington halt all investigating and surveilling U.S. citizens “who have done nothing more than exercise their natural and constitutional right to practice their religion.”

It seems to be a simple enough request, but this is not the FBI and Justice Department of years past.

The AGs wrote specifically to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland. They noted that bigotry against Catholics “appears to be festering in the FBI.”

The letter slammed the memo for targeting Catholics as possible extremists merely over “the language in which they pray or because of the beliefs to which they subscribe.” The AGs called that action “unacceptable, unconstitutional, and deeply un-American.”

The group added that they will take all necessary legal measures to protect the constitutional rights of their constituents.

The memo was leaked on Jan. 23 and based almost entirely on left-wing sources and their disparagement of traditional Catholicism. Citing these, the document asserted that “radical-traditionalist Catholics” are in fact potentially “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.”

The FBI, with the exposure of the leaked memo, was forced to backtrack last week.

The agency said that the report does not rise to the agency’s “exacting standards” and announced there will be an internal review. The FBI told Fox News Digital that it “quickly” took action to remove the memo.

Targeting American citizens for their religious beliefs is beyond the pale and far outside the missions of the FBI and Department of Justice. Unfortunately, with the weaponization of the federal government over the past two years, it is not as surprising as it once would have been.
