Census Shows Mass Exodus In Democrat States, Republican Gains

Given the disastrous policies of the left, Democrat-run states such as New York and California have seen their populations drastically decrease compared to Republican-governed states like Texas, which recently reported the largest population increase.

On Dec 19, 2023, the U.S. Census Bureau released a report outlining the population trends of all 50 states in the union.

“In 2023, more states gained population than has been seen since the start of the pandemic. At the state level, 42 states and the District of Columbia had an increase in population, up from 31 states and the District of Columbia in 2022 and 34 states in 2021,” the report read.

“The increasing number of states with population growth reflects both the broad national trends of deaths and net international migration returning to pre-COVID level as well as reduced net domestic outmigration for some of the states,” it continued.

In 2022, 11 states saw their populations decrease but are now seeing slight jumps, including New Jersey, Ohio, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Kansas, Rhode Island, New Mexico, Mississippi and Alaska, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

In contrast, eight states saw a mass exodus in 2023, such as California, West Virginia, Illinois, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii, all run by Democrats except West Virginia.

The Golden State saw a net population decrease of nearly 80,000, while The Empire State lost 100,000 residents in 2023. Illinois, which has been overrun by illegal immigrants under the Biden administration, also saw its population decrease by nearly 33,000.

As leftist states such as California and New York saw their populations fall, Republican-run states such as Texas, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina experienced a population surge, accounting for 67% of the U.S.’s total population growth in 2023.

Since 2022, Texas experienced the largest population growth of any state in the union at nearly 474,000, followed by Florida, which added over 365,000 residents. In 2023, the Sunshine State and South Carolina were reported as the two fastest-growing states in the U.S.

Georgia’s population also saw a net increase of 111,000 in 2023, setting the Peach State’s total population to a little over 11 million.
