NYC High School Boots Students to House Illegal Immigrants

Students at a New York City high school were booted from their classrooms to house nearly 2,000 illegal immigrants who were evacuated from a nearby shelter due to a storm.

After officials received word that the massive tent was at risk of collapsing from rains and wind, they sent the illegal immigrants five miles away to hold up in a second-floor gym at James Madison High School.

“This is f—ed up, it’s a litmus test. They are using a storm, a legitimate situation, where they are testing this out. I guarantee you they’ll be here for the entire summer,” a local who goes by the name of Rob said.

“There’s 2,000 people getting thrown into my neighborhood, half a block from where I live, and we don’t know who they are. They’re not vetted, and many of them have criminal records and backgrounds, and we don’t even know,” he added.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a mom stood in the pouring rain as buses of immigrants began to pull up to the high school. The mom, who identified as Michelle, screamed angrily as they pulled up, “How do you feel?! Does it feel good?!”

Earlier that day, James Madison High School announced they’d be holding classes remotely on Wednesday due to the housing of nearly 2,000 illegal immigrants. On Tuesday, weather forecasts anticipated 70 mph wind gusts with heavy rains. Officials feared for the safety of the immigrants and decided to move them to a safer shelter.

By midday Tuesday, officials were already prepping James Madison High School for the arrival of illegals, providing ten NYPD vehicles and six emergency management.

“They told us we had to get everything out by 5 p.m. They sent us the email at 6 in the morning. I don’t know when we’ll be able to return,” gym teacher Robyn Levy said.

This wasn’t the first time extreme weather affected the tent. Last month, it took a beating from heavy rain and wind gusts strong enough to shake the metal bolts loose from its ceiling. The December 18 storm dropped nearly four inches of rain that day.

Almost 70,000 illegal immigrants have remained in New York City since arriving at the U.S. border nearly two years ago.

The recent events come just after NYC Mayor Eric Adams announced that his administration filed a $700 million lawsuit against charter bus companies that transported illegal immigrants to the city.
