Rubio Endorses Trump For President Ahead Of Iowa Caucuses

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued a late endorsement of former president and current GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump just one day before the Iowa caucuses.

In a Sunday afternoon post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Rubio declared his support for Trump in the 2024 presidential election — becoming the 23rd senator to endorse the former president.

Rubio, who was once a critic of Trump when he ran against him in the 2016 GOP primary, pointed out that he was able to push through many important pieces of legislation when Trump was in office.

“When Trump was in WH I achieved major policies I had worked on for years (like expanded Child Tax Credit & tough sanctions on regime in Cuba & Venezuela) because we had a President who didn’t cave to special interests or let bureaucrats block us,” he wrote.

The Florida congressman went on to point out that Trump taking back the White House will allow him to take “the extraordinary actions” necessary to fix the problems the United States is currently facing, especially those caused by President Joe Biden.

“I support Trump because that kind of leadership is the ONLY way we will get the extraordinary actions needed to fix the disaster Biden has created. It’s time to get on with the work of beating Biden & saving America!” he added.

With Rubio’s endorsement, Trump now has the backing of both senators from Florida, as Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) endorsed the former president back in November — which has surprised many commentators, as it was expected that Florida politicians would endorse Trump’s primary opponent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

Trump also received another surprise endorsement on Sunday from former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R), who dropped out of the GOP presidential primary in December.

Burgum shared a video of his endorsement of Trump in a post on X, writing: “America needs a 180-degree change in direction from where Joe Biden has taken us! Donald J. Trump will make America great again!”

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has also endorsed Trump in a fiery statement on X.

“I just endorsed Donald Trump. Whether you like Trump or not, Americans face a binary choice. Biden refuses to enforce our border, prosecutes his opponents, & embraces policies that make life unaffordable for hardworking Americans. I’ll take the mean tweets. I choose Trump,” he wrote, sharing a clip of himself discussing his endorsement on Fox News.
